Peace of mind from day one with an AJAX home security system

Buying your first home is one of life’s greatest milestones – something that brothers Caleb and Nick achieved together when they purchased a property in Avondale. As they moved in and set up their new home, they discussed installing home security.

Rather than relying on a basic alarm or DIY solution, they wanted professional-grade protection that would actively deter crime and give them certainty if something ever happened. So, they reached out to the team at Hines Security.

After assessing the property, we recommended the AJAX wireless security system, including indoor and outdoor MotionCam detectors with photo verification. Less than a month later, that decision proved invaluable.

Caught in the act

On a quiet weekday morning, while the brothers were going about their usual routines, something triggered the outdoor detector in their backyard. Within seconds, both Caleb and Nick received alerts on their phones via the AJAX app, along with a series of clear, animated images.

The photos showed two hooded individuals methodically scoping out the rear of the property – jumping fences, testing gates, and peering through windows.

Caleb called the police immediately and forwarded time-stamped photographic evidence straight from the AJAX app. With visual confirmation of unknown individuals on the property, police treated the situation as a priority and arrived within minutes.

The suspects were caught attempting to break in and were taken into custody.

Photo verification helps reduce false alarms

AJAX’s photo verification feature uses MotionCam technology to capture a series of photos or videos when motion is detected – and send them directly to the homeowner’s phone via the AJAX app. From there, they can be shared quickly with security services or authorities. This instant visual proof that an alarm has been triggered for good reason is a key part of the AJAX security system – it helps reduce unnecessary callouts and speeds up response times.

Stopping crime – not just recording it

For Caleb and Nick, the outcome was confronting, but also reassuring. What could have escalated into something more serious was stopped early.

As law-enforcement professionals often note, a relatively small number of repeat offenders are responsible for a disproportionate share of residential burglaries. In this case, removing two active offenders had an immediate effect on the neighbourhood.

Since that morning, there have been no further incidents at the property.

“This system didn’t just alert us, it gave us photographic evidence that brought the police running and put the bad guys in handcuffs the same day. We sleep so much better knowing AJAX is watching the house 24/7.” - Caleb

Getting the right setup

Caleb and Nick’s system was installed and configured by Hines Security, who worked with them to identify vulnerable areas around the property – particularly the rear boundary and access points not visible from the street.
